Big Fish & Stormy Weather
Float Tubing and Hiking in the Rain
Three lakes and some beaver ponds were visited throughout a stormy day. A large cutthroat trout and a large brook trout were caught from my float tube before getting stormed out of the first lake.
Lakes 2 and 3 were quick stops and ultimately ended with heavy storming again, but some fish were caught and beautiful country was traveled through.

Chasing the highest-elevation fish in the state and the journey to find them. @TroutHowler and I embarked on a really big hike to visit the highest stocked lake in the state of Utah while camped in the shadow of Kings Peak. This amazing trip was the product of many years of research and preparation. We hiked for many miles through incredible landscapes to get to our camp, which was over 15 mile...

I've wanted to show my wife the beautiful area that I've enjoyed recently and hopefully get her into some fish as well. She absolutely loved it and caught some great fish. Float Tube Fishing - Back to the High Country for some fat brook trout and healthy cutthroat. Hiking In Waders (10 miles in the Uintas - Tigers, Brookies, and a Cutthroat)
Enjoying this channel. Something about gulp minnows on a kayak/tube always seems to be a success. I need to try it up there sometime, only ever fished from shore.
@@Chevy-Colorado Thanks for watching. Much appreciated.
Which lake is this? I'm always looking for early season places in the Uintas.
Nice behemoth slimers per usual. I’ve been hunting in that crap weather
@@FishfearmeStudios And I see you successfully flinged a feathered stick at one. Nicely done.
Great video, Justin! It was special for me to watch you catch brookies out of my grandpa’s namesake
@@greghills3595 That's amazing! Right on!
Awesome stuff
little easier hike this week! haha! I can't believe how big that brook trout is....wow. I just love the sound of thunder in the mountains.
@baitnbullets Definitely an easier hike (until the end - IYKYK). Special place.
What an trip thanks for sharing
@@walangilir Thanks for your interest!
Those two fish were beauties.but the scum pond was as ugly as sin.
Mantap boss
Dang that’s a nice fish
I love that area! I thoroughly enjoyed this video.
@@huntzz21 Thank you, Troy!

Deegan! 💪💪💪
Tanner here. It was very cool running into you yesterday! Thanks for pointing us the right direction to the lake. Glad to see you got a chunky brookie and some more fish despite the wet weather.
Always nice to run into people. Glad to meet you. Yeah, I only got to float for about a half hour before beaching. Short day there.
It only takes one or two to make it a great day for sure. Especially when they are hogs. Cool shout out to Deegan.
That's a pretty special area. It's a stormy place up there in the summer. Those mountains are where thunderstorms are made.
@@mattsyme7747 I agree.
Nice little pond with some quality fish. Too bad they were being stubborn. Glad you and your wife both caught fish. Awesome date in the woods. Take care and have a great day.
What an epic trip! Thanks for sharing
@@davidblackettusa Thanks for watching!
Kendall is a legend
Indeed.
I love the pale color of those brookies. They look like arctic char. Nice job getting to them and catching them! Thanks for sharing! Probably best to not name the lake though. Even though it's difficult to get to, the Uintas are getting overrun and lakes like this can still get over fished easily. Just my $0.02.
@mmiller73 I usually don't drop names for most of the places I visit, but seriously, if someone wants to come and do this, I hope they will. There was no hesitation on my end for this trip, including place names. That may bother some people, but it was ultimately my work and my choice.
I am so jealous of all your trips fishing the Uinta's this year. congrats Justin on the hike and all your catches! I love everything about this video! well done!
@@baitnbullets Much appreciated
Putting in that work, good job boys
@@babybilly801 Sho NUFF!
So relaxing!
Cordell is the G.O.A.T. of the Uintahs! I have followed him for years.
@timkern177 Agreed. I spent a lot of time reading his blog without thinking I'd ever even attempt any of his trips. What a stud.
These are my home mountains! The worst fishing in the state by far👌 Nice fish gents, am excited to get up there again here soon.
Wow, wow, wow! Great video Justin! "If you don't do it this year you'll only be a year older!" 7 years, well done! Great base camp. Great goal to check off. That was insane to see it come all the way to the surface. Congrats on accomplishing your goal. Pretty fish. That drop was easy compared to how they were dropped in by the DWR.....lol. That was a great Uinta Brookie.
@@StacySalmans Thanks a bunch!
That first one looked like it could’ve been a splake. Had a good fork in its tail. Nice!
@jzacharytodd Definitely a brookie, but they did have a unique look in there.
Looks like an amazing trip! Thanks for keeping it real and not being afraid to let everyone know that some things were difficult for you. Your gratitude and being down to earth add so much to your videos. Thanks!
@@TLDorius I appreciate that.
Rad video Justin! Beautiful country and a cool accomplishment!
@gappmayerflies458 Thanks man!
Nice job, Justin! Looks like an amazing trip. Thanks for putting the video together.
@dankennedy_ut Thanks for Watching!
That was a fun trip 👍
@@TroutHowler Indeed. Very cool experience. Thanks for coming.
@@UtahWaterLog Thats a long ways for a little fish but what an experience. AWESOME!
Glad you caught some out of Beard. I would have died somewhere along the trail.
@@FishfearmeStudios There's an old horse skeleton at the head of Painter Basin, just below the descent from Gunsight that made me wonder if I'd give it company...
Loved this video my friend. Keep them coming!
@@keonikauwe Thank you!
My word that absolutely beautiful country. great videos keep 'em coming please!
@@mybugmy64bug31 You bet, thanks.
What lakes in the Uintas do you fish at??? or how can i find some with monsters like that on my own????
@@m4xscile674 I've studied extensively and done a lot of footwork to find some of my spots. Stocking reports, DWR literature, and boots on the ground.
something i dream of doing, and fish i dream of catching, how do i do this. how do i know where to fish to catch beauties like the ones you’ve caught? i live close to the Uintas and really want to go
@m4xscile674 Keep casting, be patient, and don't miss the bite.
Awesome work Justin!
Awesome place. Put some nice brooks in the net for a small pond. Definitely in the doldrums of the summer.
Indeed!
Beautiful spot! Don’t mean to be critical but doesn’t a float tube in alert every trout in a place that small.
@Randylayhe001 I see why you could think that, but I don't feel like that's the case. It also really helps to loosen up a snag, having a tube. Plus, I just love floating and prefer that mobility to being shore bound, in most cases.
@@UtahWaterLog thanks and again not trying to be “that guy.” That pond with the back drop looks like a beautiful picture.
im glad someone's advocating for some more goldens! solid work on the brookies
@babybilly801 I have been given criteria to watch for (no outlet connected to other water bodies) and have listed multiple lakes for years and still nada.
@@UtahWaterLog ive heard of one lake in utah that has one but cant find it on any maps lol
Good Stuff!
Some nice ones still existed. I wish my wife would be up for a fishing date😂
Wow that’s a beautiful place and fish!
That trailhead always scares me off. 😂 I expected more company around you. Rough one, but at least you felt some slime.
Hi Dave. Great reflections! Line wrap....why aren't I casting well?....lol Been there. What a great day on the lake. No skunk just added to the greatness.
I'm curious why you think that there are some big tiger trout in that lake. I have fished that lake numerous times through the years and have only caught small fish.
@@davidbentley8092 1. I saw a video where a guy was catching solid tigers there. He didn't name it, but I knew where he was. 2. I saw two bigger fish while floating. One bite (missed) and chased my jig to my tube and the other swam right under me.
Looks like your wife caught the big fish of the day. Nice tiger Sonya! It wouldn't be the Uintahs with out some rain!
You got that right!
persistence pays off! Good way to get ready for the big hike and get some fishing in at the same time!
Nice video man. I love these kind of videos! Keep posting ❤
